Cedar baklava is flavoured with honey and cinnamon for an authentic taste and aroma. The sweet syrup is balanced by the earthy flavour of walnuts, pistachios and cashews.

Baklawa is a popular sweet treat in the Middle East and Mediterranean. It is thought to have originated in Mesopotamia around 800 BC. No one can agree on who invented it, but the pastries are now enjoyed around the world.

This Lebanese recipe for baklawa is made with lots of butter and nuts, and uses less syrup than Greek or Turkish versions. Please bear in mind the baklawa may be less sticky than some other varieties.
